KS4
Key Stage 4:
In Key Stage 4, pupils undertake the GCSE Construction and the Built Environment course.
This subject is split into four units:
Unit 1 – Introduction to the Built Environment
Unit 2 – Sustainable Construction
Unit 3 – The Construction Craft Project
Unit 4 – Computer Aided Design in Construction.
Unit 1 and Unit 2 are theory units where pupils have the opportunity to develop a wide range of knowledge and skills related to the Construction industry. Unit 3 is a craft project where pupils manufacture a product from wood in the workshop. Finally, in Unit 4, pupils use AutoCAD (a computer based drawing package) to produce construction details and plans. The skills and knowledge gained from this subject are extremely beneficial to pupils whether they choose a vocational route after GCSE or whether they progress towards A Levels.
