BTEC National Extended Certificate in Applied Science

This qualification gives students the opportunity to develop a range of specialist skills that prepare them for the world of work or for continued scientific study at higher level. It is equivalent to 1 A-Level

During the course students get a solid grounding in scientific theories and concepts and also develop the practical, investigative skills that under pin this sector.

The course is split into 4 units which are studied over the two years;

Year 13 Study

Unit 1 – Principles and applications of science

Unit 2 – Practical scientific procedures and techniques

Year 14 Study

Unit 3 – Science investigation skills

Unit 9 – Human regulation and reproduction
