Extra-curricular Activitites
Extra-curricular activities:
Beyond the curriculum, all students will have the opportunity to compete in sport and participate in other activities that build character as well as further develop physical skills. The PE department at St Patrick’s College offers a wide-range of extra-curricular activities, including gaelic, hurling, camogie, soccer, basketball, athletics, cross country, table tennis, badminton and netball.
Regular fixtures are arranged against other post primary schools in a range of sports, as well as frequently competing in competitions and tournaments on a local and nation-wide level, allowing students to proudly represent their school and demonstrate their practical skills as well as values such as teamwork, respect and commitment. The extra-curricular programme is a truly inclusive one with all students encouraged to get involved. The College has excellent indoor sporting facilities including a Sports Hall, a Gymnasium and Fitness Suite, as well as an outdoor all-weather playing area. Regular use is also made of local facilities including the Leisure Centre, Showgrounds 3G pitches and All Saints GAA pitches.
We have a very dedicated and committed group of teachers who contribute to a large percentage of the extra-curricular programme over and above their normal teaching roles. The school is also involved in the extended schools programme. Through this funding we are also able to access quality coaches in a range of activities.
