We are passionate about the benefits that learning a language can bring. We strongly believe in languages as a skill for life and something students should enjoy and find rewarding.

The Polish Department’s objective is to enable students of all abilities to develop their Polish language skills to their full potential, equipping them with the knowledge to communicate in a variety of contexts with confidence.

Key Stage 3:

At Key Stage 3, Polish is delivered over two periods per week.

In Year 8, 9 and 10 pupils study the following topics:

· Greetings

· Numbers and Alphabet

· Family and Days of the Week

· Legends

· Food

· Jobs

· Animals

· Free time

· Clothes

· Body parts

· Weather and Seasons

· Sport

· Transport


Key Stage 4:

At Key Stage 4, the Polish Department offers Polish at GCSE Level. Pupils follow the AQA specification.

Pupils will be examined on their knowledge of the language within the following contexts for learning:

Theme 1: Identity and culture

Theme 2: Local, national, international and global areas of interest

Theme 3: Current and future study and employment

Pupils will be assessed in the four main skill areas of: Speaking, Writing, Listening and Reading.

A Level:

Our Department is pleased to offer A Level Polish. This course is particularly suitable for students who have studied GCSE Polish and wish to study Polish at a higher level. Pupils will follow the AQA specification. This qualification is linear. Linear means that students will sit all their exams at the end of the course.
