ASSESSMENT AND ACCREDITATION
GCSE Learning for Life and Work at Key Stage 4
Through studying this specification, students gain knowledge and understanding of:
- diversity, social inclusion, rights and responsibilities;
- the role of government and non-governmental organisations in protecting people’s rights;
- democratic institutions and processes;
- how to maximise physical and mental health and well-being;
- relationships and sexuality;
- to be a discerning consumer;
- the impact of globalisation on employment;
- recruitment and selection procedures;
- self-employment;
- the work environment; and
- the social responsibility of businesses
This CCEA course provide students with the skills they require to think independently, make informed decisions, and take appropriate action when faced with personal, social, economic and employment issues. Pupils will be assessed though three external exams worth 20% each and one controlled assessment worth 40%.
Personal Success and Wellbeing/Princes Trust
Those students not studying GCSE LLW, will study courses allowing them to achieve a qualification in Personal Success and Wellbeing or Personal Development and Employability Skills equivalent to a GCSE grade/s. This course develops the pupil’s personal skills and capabilities, addresses issues for young people in Northern Ireland and allows students to gain knowledge of learning for life and work strands. On-going portfolio assessment.
